The role of book influencers in realation to the publishers, booksellers and readers

The diploma thesis deals with book influencers and their use by publishers and booksellers as a marketing tool. The thesis presents this modern phenomenon, its characteristics, principles, the most important book influencers in the Czech Republic and the online environment where book influencers operate. The aim was to find out the principles and conditions of cooperation between book influencers, publishers and booksellers, their relationships and the effect of the online content of book influencers on readers. The evaluation was carried out on the basis of a questionnaire survey with six book influencers, eight publishers, two booksellers and 662 readers. The research part shows us how these cooperations work in practice, whether it is a key marketing tool for publishers and booksellers, how it will develop in the future and what are the attitudes of all three examined groups to this phenomenon. At the same time, the research outlines the issue of blurring the differences between book influencers and literary critics, where we can notice considerable misunderstandings on the part of literary critics and rivalry. The Reprezentation of Selected Socialist and Communist Countries in the Czech Press in 2010

Theme of this diploma work are news related to selected socialist and communist countries in the Czech press. Characteristic works are the specifics of media countries with the socialist (or communist) government in the Czech press. Theoretical work is beyond theory Frankfurt and Birmingham schools. The basis of the analysis work will stereotypes concerning the socialist and communist countries, the Czech news media contents. The findings will then be the basis for in-depth interviews with the news media workers and the staff representative bodies of the countries. The goal is to reveal the motives and the construction of stereotypes at the production of media content.

Support of Reading in the Municipal Library Branches in Prague

(in English) The thesis deals with a support of reading with aim effort to offered service, organizing cultural and educational actions in the Municipal Library of Prague. The first part solves theoretical definition and the meaning of reading. There are briefly explained some terms that relate to - reading, the reader, reading socialization, reading literacy, etc. Factors that influence reading process and education for reading are monitored, as well. Furthermore, national representative projects supporting reading primarily in libraries are presented at my work, too. The second part of my work is focused on the Municipal Library of Prague and its role in supporting reading. It describes the library from the view of its mission, the way of financing (funding) and organization structure. The essential part pays attention to the presentation of specialized sections and services, which are provided in the library. It describes different actions supporting reading or providing propagation of the library. Last but not least, the different sections of the Municipal Library of Prague are depicted here with attention to organizing cultural and educational actions, which contributes to supporting reading. The Influence of Regional Media on Readers' Perception of Politics in Melnik

Diploma thesis "The Influence of Regional Media on Readers' Perception of Politics in Melnik" refers on a survey of accepting media framing of politicians, politics and important issues by regional media readers in the town of Melnik. Methods of framing and focus groups were used in the survey. First the methods were introduced. The method of framing was used for qualitative content analysis of five printed media from 2005 to 2007. The media were daily Melnicky denik, weekly Tydenik Melnicko, monthly Melnicka radnice, weekly Tep regionu and regional supplement of Mlada fronta Dnes for Central Bohemia. The author of this work focused on several most important issues of the 2005 to 2007 period and he observed how respondents accept or decline the framing of these problems offered by politics, journalists and other participants of Melnik political life. To do this he organised focus groups discussions with Melnik inhabitants in the age of 26 to 75 years of age. They discussed their opinions and beliefs on local politics. This work is a subjective insight into the world of regional media effects on readers, in this case focused on political issues.

Fashion blogs as a new trend in online journalism and their influence on readers

The main focus of the thesis is to describe the phenomenon of fashion blogs as a specific style of online writing and to analyse its influence on readers in relation to printed fashion magazines. The theoretic part describes an evolution of online media since the beginnings of Web, also in the context of generational change. It focuses on the Generation Y and its relation to online media. Furthermore, it describes internet media and internet journalism and their current tendencies. The next part defines blogs in general and contains a brief history of the phenomenon, their comparison with traditional journalistic values and finally on fashion blogs themselves. Fashion blogs are perceived as a part of modern visual culture, which is closely connected to the evolution of fashion blogs, and as a sign of societal trends of narcissism and individualism. The thesis compares the influence and the meaning of fashion blogs in comparison with printed fashion magazines. The analytical part uses a quantitative research and analyses the readers' view on both fashion blogs and the printed fashion magazines. Development of Public Libraries of the Pilsen Region 1990-2010

This thesis analyzes the development of public libraries in the Pilsen Region in 1990-2010. The work focuses on the major issues of development of public libraries from the perspective of the Pilsen Region macrosystem, especially the volume of data and system changes. In the first three chapters are given general information about public libraries and their functions, information about the Pilsen Region (former West Region) and library legislation. The main characteristic of the work of bringing the two periods, 1990-1999 and 2000-2010, public libraries in the Pilsen Region. These chapters analyze the changes that affected the functioning of libraries in the monitored phases. The consequences of changes thesis looks through the selected statistical indicators of the years. These changes illustrated in graphic form furnished comments. The last section concludes and evaluates the development of public libraries of the Pilsen Region in 1990-2010. Thesis is equipped with text and spreadsheet attachments. [Author's abstract].
